Alexander has been hooping for 14 years, devoting the last few primarily to trailblazing new double hooping ground, developing a systematic hooping pedagogy, and illustrating/writing “The Book On Hooping,” which is currently available. Nixon’s Hoop Journey started in 2004 playing Puck in a Burning Man-inspired version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in which he hula hooped his way into and out of mischief. Nixon has been hooping ever since, helping Stefan Spins and Malcolm Stuart teach the legendary Groovehoops class in NYC, and, thereafter, taking his hoops with him to his Peace Corps service in Guatemala. Nixon teaches group and private classes online and in NYC, and hosts a daily Hoop Jam in New York City’s Union Square, wherein he loves to show off his innovative work in Double Hooping using his new LED hoops designed by TheHoopCompany. Last but not least, Nixon is working to raise interest in making hooping a stand-alone Olympic sport for men and women and hopes you will become involved. Nixon is also the singer/song-writer, front man of The Violets, an 80s styled rock band. He graduated from Stanford University in 2000 with Honors in Latin American Studies and Fine Arts.
